Beschrijving voorzijde Arnold Machin's second-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, depicting a youthful draped bust facing right, wearing a tiara, set against a deeply mirrored proof field. The circumferential legend reads ELIZABETH II · SILVER JUBILEE · BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS, with the date 1977 positioned in the lower exergual area. The portrait is rendered in fine relief, characteristic of Machin's elegant style for Commonwealth coinage of the period.

Aanvullende informatie

The British Virgin Islands issued a coordinated set of commemorative coins for Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee in 1977, a year when dozens of Commonwealth territories produced similar issues — making this one of the more crowded commemorative programs in modern Commonwealth numismatics. The BVI had only adopted its current territorial status in 1960, and the jubilee coins were among the earliest silver issues to carry the territory's name with any regularity.

KM#11 is part of a seven-coin silver set for the year. Collector demand for individual pieces pulled from broken sets has kept single examples in steady but unremarkable supply.
