| Obverse description | The effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, depicted at approximately 77 years of age, bareheaded, wearing a necklace and drop earrings, in a refined and naturalistic portrait style. The legend ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA arcs around the upper periphery of the field, identifying the sovereign by name and title. This portrait, engraved by Susan Taylor, presents the Queen in a dignified and intimate rendering consistent with the mature effigies adopted by Canada in later reign coinage. |
