| Obverse description | The obverse features the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by engraver Susan Taylor, depicting the Queen in right-facing profile as rendered at approximately 77 years of age. The bare-headed portrait shows Her Majesty wearing a necklace and drop earrings, rendered in fine detail befitting the proof finish. The legend ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA arcs around the upper periphery of the field, identifying the monarch and her title by the grace of God in Latin. |

| Reverse description | The reverse bears the classic Canadian dime design depicting the Bluenose schooner under full sail, originally engraved by Emanuel Hahn and introduced in 1937. The vessel is shown in dynamic profile with sails billowing, conveying a sense of motion across open water. The legend CANADA arcs above the central device, with the denomination 10 CENTS inscribed along the lower periphery. The date appears to the right of the design, and a small designer's initial H, referencing Hahn, is present near the lower right of the ship motif. |
