This 2012 proof issue resurrects the old specifications purely as a collector artifact, struck in fine silver with gold plating rather than the copper-nickel of everyday commerce. The KM#117d designation places it within the fourth-portrait collector series, which ran alongside New Zealand's broader commemorative program during the Diamond Jubilee year.
