Reverse description Central depiction of the famous Nova Scotia fishing schooner Bluenose under full sail, shown in three-quarter starboard view with billowing mainsail, foresail, and jib set, gliding on a stylised sea. The legend CANADA arcs across the upper field, while the denomination 10 CENTS is inscribed along the lower exergual area. The four-digit date appears to the right of the vessel in the mid-field, and a small mintmark letter 'H' (denoting the Heaton Mint, Birmingham, used on certain issues) may appear at lower left of the reverse field. The design is attributed to Emanuel Hahn.
