| Beschrijving keerzijde | A prominent sheaf of rice stalks with two full ears of grain rises vertically at center, its long curved leaves splaying outward to divide the denomination on either side. The numeral '10' appears in bold relief to the left and 'CENT.' to the right of the rice plant. The circular legend INDOCHINE FRANÇAISE arcs around the upper rim within a beaded border, and two small mint marks appear at the base of the design flanking the stalks. |

By 1945, Japanese occupation had severed French Indochina from its traditional metal supply chains, forcing a shift to aluminium for small denomination coinage. The two catalogue variants — KM#28.1 and KM#28.2 — differ in the spacing of design elements, a consequence of multiple working dies being cut under wartime conditions with little consistency enforced between them.
These were among the last coins struck under French colonial authority before the August Revolution brought the Việt Minh to power and effectively ended French administrative control for several years.
