Villarluengo is a remote mountain village in the Maestrazgo region of Teruel, and in 1937 it was operating under anarchist collectivization — the local economy effectively socialized, with the Colectividad issuing its own scrip to replace pesetas within the community. Notes like this one circulated strictly within the village economy and were redeemable only through the collective itself. The three signatories — Secretary, Treasurer, and Contador — were not bank officials but collective administrators, likely neighbors.
