10 Céntimos Sentmenat

Sentmenat is a small municipality in the Vallès Occidental comarca of Catalonia, and this 10 céntimos emergency issue belongs to the extraordinary proliferation of locally printed fractional currency that swept Catalonia in 1936–37. When the Civil War disrupted coin supply almost overnight, hundreds of Catalan towns — many with fewer residents than a city block — were authorized under the Generalitat's emergency decree to print their own small-denomination notes. Sentmenat was among the smallest issuers.
