10 Céntimos Picaña

Picaña is a small municipality in the Valencia province, and this 10 céntimos note is exactly what it appears to be: a local emergency scrip issued during the Spanish Civil War when the Republic's peseta coinage had all but disappeared from everyday commerce. Bronze and copper were being hoarded or absorbed by the war economy, forcing hundreds of Spanish municipalities — from major cities down to villages of a few hundred souls — to produce their own emergency fractional currency. Picaña was one of the smallest to do so.

The Turró reference places it firmly within the documented Valencian Community issues, and the Gari Mon catalogue variant suffix "-B" suggests at least two distinct versions are known.
