| Additional information |
Spain's monetary authorities were evaluating new small denomination coinage in the late 1920s, and several pattern strikes were commissioned to test compositions and dies before any production commitment was made. This copper-nickel trial never advanced to circulation — the political turbulence preceding the fall of Alfonso XIII and the proclamation of the Second Republic in 1931 effectively ended any further development of the series.
