| Obverse description | Quartered shield of arms of Andorra at centre, surmounted by a mural crown, flanked by ornate foliate and scroll supporters; the quarters display a mitre and pastoral staff (upper left), vertical stripes (upper right), a crozier (lower left), and two bulls (lower right). The shield is set within a beaded inner circle, with the circumferential legend reading REPUBLICA DE LOS VALLS DE ANDORRA in raised Latin capitals around the outer field. Two six-pointed stars flank the base of the design, and the entire composition is bordered by a reeded outer rim. |

| Additional information |
Andorra had no official coinage of its own in 1873 — it operated under a dual co-principality arrangement split between the French state and the Bishop of Urgell, with French and Spanish coins circulating freely. This piece is a pattern, never formally adopted, and the X# prefix in Krause's Unusual World Coins places it firmly outside any sanctioned issue. Who commissioned it and why remains unresolved; no corresponding circulation strike was ever authorized.
