10 Centimos Palafrugell; L'Económica Palafrugellenca

L'Econòmica Palafrugellenca was a consumer cooperative in Palafrugell, on the Costa Brava, and like hundreds of Catalan cooperatives and municipal bodies during the Civil War it plugged the coin shortage by issuing its own fractional scrip. The Republican government's wartime economic disruption hit small change hardest — metal was redirected, hoarding was immediate, and local entities stepped in.

At 43 × 38 mm on heavy card, these were made to survive pocket wear. Gari Monographic catalogue number 1057 places it within the enormous documented body of Catalan *moneda de necessitat* from this period — a classification that runs to thousands of issuers.
