Llombay is a small municipality in Valencia, and like dozens of similar communities, it issued its own emergency scrip during the summer of 1936 when the Republic's monetary system effectively collapsed at the local level. The CNT collectivization of the village meant that this note was not issued by a bank or municipal government but by the workers' collective itself — the issuing authority printed directly on the note.
Small-denomination local scrip from the Valencian CNT collectives survives in highly uneven quantities. Llombay issues are among the scarcer village emissions in the Garicó-Montagut census.
