La Fresneda is a small municipality in Teruel, Aragon — deep in Republican-held territory during the opening phase of the Civil War. Like hundreds of Aragonese villages in 1937, its local council issued emergency fractional paper after metallic coin effectively vanished from circulation, hoarded or melted almost immediately once fighting began. The Consejo Municipal had no printing infrastructure worth speaking of; these notes were typically produced on whatever press served local administrative needs.

The Gari Montaner catalog remains the primary reference for Aragonese municipal issues, and low-denomination local notes from villages this size survive in genuinely small numbers — not because they were precious, but because nobody thought to keep them.
