Hundreds of municipalities, trade unions, and local bodies across Republican Spain issued their own fractional emergency scrip between 1936 and 1939, with no central authority overseeing design, paper, or denominations.

The sole security measure is an official stamp — the minimum authentication a wartime committee could manage with whatever materials were at hand.
