Additional information

The 1959 date places this pattern squarely within Spain's Stabilization Plan — the technocratic economic overhaul pushed by Franco's Opus Dei ministers that dismantled the autarkic policies of the previous two decades. A wholesale currency and coinage reorganization accompanied the plan, generating multiple pattern strikings as the mint evaluated new compositions and module sizes. This copper piece was among the candidates considered before aluminum-bronze was selected for circulating production.

Aureo catalogues very few confirmed examples.
