Opmerkingen

Collsuspina is a tiny municipality in the Moianès comarca of Catalonia — population measured in the hundreds even today. This note was issued during the Spanish Civil War, when the Republican government's decree of September 1936 authorized local authorities to produce small-denomination emergency currency to address a severe shortage of coin. Hundreds of Catalan municipalities did exactly this, flooding the region with locally printed paper fractions whose quality varied enormously depending on who happened to have a press nearby.

Imprenta Anglada in Vic served several of these small municipal issuers. The official stamp is the primary — essentially the only — security measure, which tells you everything about the trust model: community recognition, not technical printing sophistication, was doing the authentication work.
