Castellet de Llobregat is a small municipality in the Baix Penedès, and this note was issued under the anarcho-syndicalist CNT during the early months of the Spanish Civil War, when collective control over local economies made municipal and union-issued scrip functionally necessary. The Sindicato de Oficios Varios — a catch-all CNT branch for workers who didn't belong to a trade-specific syndicate — issued fractional currency to keep local exchange moving after conventional coin disappeared from circulation almost immediately after July 1936.
