Opmerkingen

Avinyó is a small municipality in Bages, Barcelona province, and like hundreds of Catalan towns during the Spanish Civil War it issued its own fractional paper currency after the breakdown of normal coin circulation in 1936–37. The Republican government's inability to maintain small-denomination coinage in the early war years created a vacuum that local councils, trade unions, and cooperatives filled with improvised paper and cardboard emisiones — thousands of distinct issues, most printed in tiny quantities and used only within a single community.

The Turró catalogue remains the standard reference for these Catalan local issues. Low-denomination notes from small villages like Avinyó tend to survive in very limited numbers; many were never redeemed.
