Aanvullende informatie

This issue emerged from the 2007 monetary reform in which Venezuela redenominated the bolívar at a ratio of 1,000 to 1, creating the "bolívar fuerte" and requiring an entirely new coin series to be struck at short notice. Within a decade, hyperinflation had rendered even the smallest denominations functionally worthless — the 10-céntimo piece, worth a fraction of a U.S. cent by 2012, was abandoned in circulation long before the series was officially discontinued.
