Aversbeschreibung The national coat of arms of Angola occupies the central field, depicting a machete and a hoe crossed over an open book, surmounted by a half cogwheel and flanked by branches of coffee and maize, with a rising sun in the lower portion. A five-pointed star appears at the apex of the emblem. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE ANGOLA arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering, while the date 1999 is inscribed at the base of the field below the arms.

Reversbeschreibung The reverse features a bold, large numeral '10' dominating the upper and central field in a plain serif style, conveying the denomination with striking simplicity. Below the numeral, the word CENTIMOS is inscribed in raised capital Latin letters across the lower field, with a circumflex accent visible over the letter 'E'. The design is unadorned, with a smooth field surrounding the denomination and a plain raised rim encircling the coin.

Zusätzliche Informationen

Angola's 1999 redenomination replaced the kwanza reajustado at a rate of one million to one, resetting a currency that had been gutted by decades of civil war and hyperinflation. Small-denomination coins of this issue saw almost no practical use — by the time they reached circulation, inflation had already eroded their purchasing power to near nothing.
