Belgian municipal emergency notes of the German occupation period are common enough, but Temsche's 1916 issue is notable for its exceptionally small physical format — among the most compact of any Flemish commune note from the period. The "papier beige" specification is worth flagging: this term, used in Belgian notaphilic literature, refers to a cream or buff-toned stock rather than white paper, and variations in shade across surviving examples suggest the commune drew on whatever supply was locally available rather than commissioning dedicated printing stock.
F. De Bock served as burgomaster of Temsche during the occupation years, with Wauters as a municipal signatory — both signatures appear manuscript, not facsimile printed.
