| Beschrijving voorzijde | A finely detailed date palm tree occupies the centre of the field, its fronds spreading broadly and its textured trunk rising from a naturalistic root base. Flanking the trunk at mid-height are two ornamental four-petalled rosettes in low relief, one to the left and one to the right. The date 1984 is inscribed in large numerals along the lower field beneath the tree. The design is unframed, with a plain, milled border encircling the composition. No legend appears on this side, the palm and rosettes serving as the sole decorative and symbolic elements. |

The Banque d'Algérie issued reverse trials as internal proofing tools, not for circulation or public sale — their survival outside institutional archives is largely accidental. Striking a trial in gold rather than lead or copper alloy was unusual and suggests this piece was produced for presentation rather than purely technical die evaluation.
By 1984, Algeria's currency had been insulated from market pressures since the dinar's delinking from the French franc system following independence, with the Banque d'Algérie operating under strict state control of monetary policy. Trial pieces from this period rarely surface in Western auction records.
