Obverse description The central field is enclosed within a finely detailed open wreath of oak branches bearing lobed leaves and acorns, tied at the base. Within the wreath, the two-line legend PRESSE MONETAIRE is inscribed in raised serif capitals across the center of the field, with a short horizontal rule below the text. No effigy or portrait appears on this die, as the piece served as a mechanical test striking to demonstrate the capacity of the new coining press. The outer border is formed by a continuous ring of beading.
