| Obverse description | Draped bust of Marianne, allegorical personification of the French Republic, facing left with flowing hair and collar ribbons animated as if in a breeze, crowned with a Phrygian cap. The effigy is rendered in a naturalistic style by engraver Henri Lagriffoul, whose surname LAGRIFFOUL appears incuse in the left field before the neck. The legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE encircles the design along the upper periphery. |
