附加信息	Rogat's 1848 essay pieces were submitted during the open competition the Provisional Government organized following the February revolution, when the new Republic needed coinage stripped of royal imagery almost overnight. Henri Rogat, a Paris-based engraver, was among dozens who entered. His designs were ultimately rejected in favor of Barre's work, leaving these trial strikes as administrative dead-ends rather than precursors to anything actually issued. The piéfort au quadruple — struck at four times normal planchet thickness — was a deliberate demonstrator, produced to show depth of relief and die quality to the selection committee. Rogat's essais in this format are rare survivors of a competition most numismatic literature underrepresents.
