| Obverse description | Draped bust of Marianne facing right, her hair loosely arranged and adorned with a laurel branch, rendered in the Art Nouveau style characteristic of Dupuis. A cockerel appears at her left shoulder, partially visible behind the figure. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE runs along the upper periphery, and the date 1896 appears in the lower exergual area. The overall design exhibits fine naturalistic detail consistent with Dupuis's medallic artistry. |

| Reverse description | Incuse negative portrait of the obverse design, presenting the bust of Marianne and associated allegorical elements in intaglio relief as a mirror image of the obverse. This unusual treatment, produced on an extremely thin flan, results in the obverse design appearing recessed into the reverse surface, with the surrounding field slightly raised. The effect is consistent with known trial and pattern strikings of this Dupuis type, where the thin planchet allows the obverse punch to sink through and create a corresponding negative impression on the reverse. |
