Obverse description Bare left-facing bust of Charles X, King of France, rendered in high relief in the neoclassical style. The royal effigy is encircled by the legend CHARLES X ROI DE FRANCE disposed along the periphery. The engraver's signature N. Tiolier appears in small characters at the base of the truncation, attributing the design to Chief Engraver Nicolas-Pierre Tiolier.

Obverse lettering CHARLES X ROI DE FRANCE N. Tiolier
Reverse description The face value and mint designation are presented in three horizontal lines within the field, reading 10 CENTIMES, ESSAI, and the Paris mint mark A, all enclosed within a wreath composed of two symmetrical olive branches tied at the base with a rose. The word ESSAI identifies the piece as an official trial strike. The design is spare and typographically formal, consistent with early Restoration-period essai coinage.
