| 表面の説明 | Central field bears the full heraldic coat of arms of the city of Amiens, comprising a quartered shield displaying fleurs-de-lis in the upper half and thistles in the lower half, surmounted by a mural crown with battlements. The shield is supported on either side by rearing unicorns as heraldic supporters, rendered in fine relief. An ornamental foliate cartouche frames the base of the arms, below which the date 1920 appears in stylised numerals. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. The engraver's signature AMIENS and J.BORY appear within the legend. |

After the First World War left French mints overwhelmed and small-denomination coinage chronically scarce, hundreds of regional Chambers of Commerce were authorized to issue their own emergency tokens. Amiens, a city that had sat within artillery range of the Western Front for much of the war, was among them. The aluminium composition reflects the postwar material shortages that made bronze and cupro-nickel impractical for low-denomination issues at the time.
Three distinct varieties are catalogued under this type, differentiated by die characteristics recorded in the El Monnedas references.
