| Opmerkingen |
Belgian municipal emergency money — noodgeld — proliferated after the German occupation cut off access to coin metal and normal banking channels. Bruges issued its own fractional notes through a local relief committee, a structure the occupying authorities tolerated as a practical necessity for keeping basic commerce moving in occupied towns.
The Bruges series is among the more diminutive of the Flemish municipal issues. Notes of this denomination circulated hard and were rarely saved — low-value fractions were spent until they fell apart, which makes intact survivors genuinely uncommon.
