Informazioni aggiuntive	Panama's coinage has long been tied to the U.S. dollar by the 1904 Convention, which fixed the balboa at parity and effectively outsourced monetary policy to Washington. During the 1975–1982 window, Panama was minting actively while simultaneously negotiating — and then ratifying — the Torrijos-Carter Treaties of 1977, which set the timeline for Canal Zone transfer. Manuel Amador Guerrero, the physician and independence conspirator who became Panama's first president, appears on this denomination as he has since the republic's earliest coinage.
