Obverse description The coat of arms of the Republic of San Marino occupies the central field, depicting the three towers of Mount Titano surmounted by ostrich plumes, set upon a quartered shield and enclosed by an ornamental cartouche bearing the incuse inscription LIBERTAS, the national motto. The shield is flanked by a wreath composed of an olive branch and an oak branch, symbolizing peace and strength respectively. A civic crown appears at the apex of the composition, denoting the sovereignty of the republic. The engraver's name GORI appears below the shield. The circular legend REPUBBLICA DI S. MARINO runs along the periphery.
