| 背面描述 | A left-facing draped bust of an indigenous woman personifying Liberty dominates the central field, wearing a feathered headdress with the word LIBERTAD inscribed across the band, her hair braided and adorned with a ribbon. The denomination 10 CENTAVOS arcs along the upper left periphery, while 2 1/2 GRAMOS arcs along the upper right, separated by small five-pointed stars. The date 1963 appears at the bottom, flanked by two stars, all within a beaded border. The portrait is rendered in fine relief in the classical allegorical tradition. |

The 1963 date marks the centennial of the restoration of Dominican independence from Spanish re-annexation — a brief and often overlooked episode in which Spain reacquired the republic in 1861 under President Pedro Santana, only to be expelled by guerrilla resistance in 1865. The commemorative series issued that year was among the last silver coinage the Dominican Republic would produce before the transition to copper-nickel in subsequent decades.
