Additional information

Honduras in 1871 was less than five decades removed from Central American Federation collapse and still sorting out its monetary infrastructure. Pattern strikes of this period were typically submitted to evaluate die quality and planchet specifications before committing to a full issue — and in many cases, the full issue never came. KM#Pn14b is catalogued as one of several compositional variants explored that year, suggesting the mint was testing silver against other metals rather than treating any single option as settled.

Very few examples are documented in major collections.
