| 背面描述 | The two-line denomination DIEZ CENTAVOS appears in bold letters at center within an open laurel wreath tied at the base with a ribbon, below which a hammer and sickle emblem is prominently displayed. The date 1896 is struck beneath the denomination, also within the wreath. The Santiago mint mark (S, rendered as a section symbol §) appears at the top of the field above the wreath opening. A beaded border encircles the entire design. |

The "no number on obverse" variety of the 1896 Chilean 10 centavos distinguishes KM#156.1 from its numbered counterpart, a die difference resulting from the transitional period following Chile's monetary reforms of the early 1890s. The War of the Pacific had drained silver reserves and destabilized the currency through the late 1880s, and Chile's subsequent return to a regulated silver coinage involved repeated design adjustments at the Santiago mint — inconsistencies in hub preparation account for the presence and absence of the denomination numeral on the obverse across otherwise identical dies.
