| Opmerkingen |
Guaymas, a Sonoran port city, became a temporary seat of federal treasury operations during the chaotic federal-constitutionalist struggle of 1914. These fractional notes were an emergency measure — the collapse of coin circulation in northern Mexico during that period forced regional treasury outposts to issue their own small-denomination paper, which was nominally backed by the federal government but entirely local in practice.
Printed by Díaz de León e Hijos in Mazatlán, a respected Mexican lithographic house, not across the border as many emergency issues of the period were. The watermark is the one security concession made in a series that was otherwise produced under speed and scarcity.
