The 1950 date places this coin squarely within Perón's first presidency, during which San Martín's cult of personality was actively co-opted by the regime. The centenary of San Martín's death fell in 1950, prompting a nationwide commemorative campaign that extended well beyond numismatics — schools, streets, and public ceremonies were all conscripted into what became a state-directed exercise in nationalist mythology.
