Opmerkingen

The Banco Nacional de Nicaragua was a peculiar institution — nominally Nicaraguan but incorporated under the laws of Connecticut and substantially controlled by American financial interests until the Somoza government fully nationalized it in 1940. This note, printed by ABNC two years before that transfer, belongs to the last phase of that hybrid arrangement.

The 10 centavos denomination circulated heavily among agricultural workers and market vendors; small-denomination paper in Nicaragua absorbed significant daily wear, and survivors in better condition are genuinely harder to locate than the higher values from this series.
