The circumferential inscription reads · EN DIOS CONFIAMOS · arcing across the upper portion of the coin, with DIEZ CENTAVOS DE CÓRDOBA continuing around the lower periphery, separated by small raised dots acting as punctuation stops. Nicaragua's monetary system was overhauled in the early 1970s under the Somoza dictatorship, with lighter aluminum-alloy coins progressively replacing the older cupro-nickel series to cut minting costs.
