The circular legend REPÚBLICA · PORTUGUESA runs around the upper and lateral periphery, separated by a raised dot, with a small decorative ornament visible at the base of the legend. A beaded inner border and a reeded outer rim enclose the design, giving the reverse a clean, uncluttered appearance characteristic of Portuguese colonial bronze coinage of the mid-twentieth century. |
