| Beschrijving keerzijde | The central motif depicts a stylized representation of the Quiriguá Stela, a celebrated pre-Columbian Mayan monolith, rendered in relief within the coin's field. The denomination '10 CENTAVOS' is inscribed to the right of the monolith, while the legend 'MONOLITO DE QUIRIGUA' curves along the lower portion of the design, identifying the cultural subject depicted. |

Guatemala's silver fractional coinage of this period was produced under the monetary framework established after the 1924–1926 reforms that created the quetzal system, pegging it to the U.S. dollar at par. The .720 fine standard adopted here mirrors the contemporaneous U.S. subsidiary silver alloy — a deliberate alignment that facilitated cross-border commerce with American-influenced economies throughout Central America. Silver was removed from Guatemalan coinage entirely by the early 1960s, making this decade-long run the final chapter for silver in the denomination.
