| Obverse description | The Ecuadorian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a condor with outstretched wings perched atop an oval shield containing a steamship on the Guayas River beneath a solar disc and the signs of Aries, Taurus, Gemini, and Cancer. The shield is flanked by four national flags and surmounted by the condor facing left. The circular legend REPUBLICA DEL ECUADOR arcs along the upper periphery, and the date 1942 appears in the lower field below a small decorative device. The coin's border is composed of a fine beaded rim. |

| Reverse description | The large numeral 10 dominates the central field in bold relief, with the inscription CENTAVOS arcing along the lower periphery below the denomination. Flanking the numeral on either side are symmetrical laurel branches curving inward from the lower field toward the upper portion of the coin, their tips nearly meeting at the top. A beaded rim encircles the entire design. |
