Additional information

Portugal's First Republic was in terminal disorder for most of this coin's production run — sixteen governments formed and fell between 1924 and the Estado Novo consolidation under Salazar, who by 1933 had rewritten the constitution entirely. The bronze 10 Centavos continued rolling out of the Casa da Moeda through all of it, a coin so mundane it outlasted the regime that created it.

Gomes attributes several die variants across the series, with differences in the numerals and spacing of the date worth attention on earlier strikes.
