Obverse description A defiant condor with wings spread stands in left profile atop a rocky outcrop, rendered in fine relief in the style of engraver Louis-Oscar Roty. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE arcs around the upper field, separated from the design by a beaded border. The fineness mark '0.5.' appears in the lower left field below the condor's perch. The designer's signature 'O. Roty' is inscribed discreetly near the base of the rock.
