Obverse description A defiant Andean condor with wings partially raised stands in left profile atop a rocky outcrop, rendered in fine engraved detail in the style of Louis-Oscar Roty. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE arcs around the upper field, separated from the design by a beaded border. The fineness indicator '0,45' appears in the lower field beneath the condor, denoting the silver content of the alloy. The engraver's signature 'O. Roty.' is inscribed discreetly in the lower field.
