Obverse description The obverse features a stylised, flat silhouette effigy of King Carl XVI Gustaf facing left, occupying the left half of the field, rendered in a bi-finish style with a polished portrait contrasting against a frosted background. Twelve five-pointed stars border the entire rim in the manner of the European Union coinage standard. To the right of the effigy, a detailed royal crown is displayed prominently in the centre-right field. The country name SVERIGE arcs along the upper right, with the trilingual trial inscription PROVE · PROV · · MUSTER distributed around the crown, and the date 2003 appears along the lower left border beside the portrait.
