Comments

Lucky Stores Incorporated operated a chain of supermarkets across California, and like several large American retailers in the mid-twentieth century, issued paper scrip for internal purposes — most likely as change tokens or employee-related credit within store operations. The exact issuance period for this denomination is not firmly documented in standard scrip references, which is itself telling: much of this material was never meant to outlast a single transaction.

Retail scrip of this type rarely survived in quantity. Cashiers discarded it, customers spent it immediately, and the issuing companies had no reason to preserve records.
