The American flag, coloured in red, white, and blue enamel, is shown unfurling to the upper right. The antique finish treatment accentuates the depth and fine sculptural detail of each Marine's uniform, equipment, and musculature, conveying the monumental gravitas of the original Felix de Weldon bronze memorial. No additional lettering appears on this face, with the field entirely occupied by the sculptural tableau. |
