| Obverse description | Cast brass cash coin centred on a square central perforation, around which four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) are disposed in the traditional reading order: top, bottom, right, left. The legend 咸豐重寶 (Xianfeng Zhongbao) identifies the Xianfeng reign period and designates the piece as a 'heavy currency' coin of elevated denomination. The characters are rendered in bold, slightly raised relief within a plain inner rim, with a wider raised outer rim encircling the flat field. |
