Beschrijving voorzijde Cast brass cash coin featuring a central square hole flanked by four Chinese characters arranged in the traditional cross formation reading clockwise from the top: 咸 (Xian), 重 (Zhong), 豐 (Feng), 寶 (Bao), forming the reign title and denomination inscription 咸豐重寶 (Xianfeng Zhongbao). The characters are rendered in regular script (kaishu) with moderate relief against a flat, unadorned field. The coin is of the small type, with a plain rim and no inner or outer decorative rings. The overall style is typical of mid-Qing Board of Revenue Mint production.

Beschrijving keerzijde Cast reverse displays a central square hole flanked by four symbols in the cross arrangement. To the right appears the Manchu character ᠪᠣᠣ (Boo) and to the left ᡬᡳ (gi), together forming the Manchu mint name Boo-gi (Board of Revenue). Above the square hole is the Chinese character 當 (Dang, meaning 'equivalent to') and below 十 (Shi, meaning 'ten'), together indicating a denomination of 10 cash. The characters and Manchu script are cast in moderate relief with a plain field, consistent with the small-type production of this issue.
